Frequently asked questions
- Are my images uploaded anywhere?
- No. The images are read into your browser and the PDF is built there. Nothing is transmitted or stored, so screenshots of private dashboards or documents stay private.
- What happens to transparency?
- PDF pages are not transparent, so any transparent areas end up showing the page behind them as white. If transparency matters to the final look, flatten the image onto the background you want before converting.
- Is the image quality reduced?
- No. PNG is lossless and is embedded as-is, so screenshots and diagrams stay pixel-perfect and text in them stays sharp. The one exception is “Smaller file” with a very large PNG: it is scaled down to 2000 px but stays PNG — never turned into a JPEG.
- Why is my PDF larger than the PNGs?
- PNG is efficient for flat graphics but the PDF wrapper adds structure around each image, and nothing is re-compressed to make up for it. For screenshot-heavy documents that is a fair trade for keeping the images exact.
