About these tools
Converting, trimming, compressing and normalising audio, all in the browser. The common arrivals are a voice message that needs to become an ordinary MP3, a recording that needs the first thirty seconds cut off, and a file that is too large to send.
Like the video tools, these run ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly on your own machine, so a recording of a meeting, a lecture or a private conversation is never uploaded. The engine downloads once, on first use, and is cached after that.
A note on quality. Audio compression is lossy and not reversible: re-encoding an MP3 to a smaller MP3 throws away detail that cannot come back, and doing it repeatedly is audible. Convert from the highest-quality source you have, once. For speech, a lower bitrate is fine and the file gets much smaller; for music it is worth staying above 192 kbps.
