Frequently asked questions

Why flatten a form?
A filled form still holds editable fields, so anyone can change the values, and some viewers show empty boxes or lose the contents on save. Flattening fixes the values in place, which is what you want before emailing a completed form.
Can it be undone?
No. The fields are gone once flattened — that is the point. Keep the fillable original if you may need to change the answers later.
Does it look different afterwards?
It should look the same. The values are drawn onto the page where the fields were. Interactive highlighting disappears, since there is nothing left to interact with.
What if my PDF has no form?
You get a valid copy back with nothing changed. The tool says so up front rather than implying it did something.
