Frequently asked questions
- Why does the page size matter?
- Printers and upload forms often require a specific size. This shows both the familiar name — A4, Letter — and the exact point dimensions, so you can tell whether a document that 'looks A4' really is. Mixed sizes in one file are shown separately.
- What is the difference between creator and producer?
- Creator is the program the document was originally written in, such as Word. Producer is what converted it to PDF. Together they often reveal how a file was made, which is useful when a PDF behaves oddly.
- Why are the fields empty?
- PDF metadata is optional, and many generators leave it blank. An empty title or author means nothing was set, not that anything is wrong with the file.
- What does 'encrypted' mean here?
- The file carries a password or permission restrictions. Details can still usually be read, but editing tools may refuse to modify it. Files with a user password cannot be opened at all without it.
