Frequently asked questions
- Why does WebP need converting?
- PDF supports JPEG and PNG image streams but has no WebP equivalent, so every tool has to re-encode. This one converts to JPEG at high quality inside your browser, which is the same thing server-based converters do — just without the upload.
- Does that lose quality?
- Slightly, because JPEG is lossy and the image is encoded a second time. At the quality used here the difference is hard to see on photographs. For screenshots and flat graphics, PNG to PDF gives a cleaner result.
- Are my images uploaded?
- No. Decoding, conversion and PDF assembly all happen in your browser. Nothing is transmitted or stored.
- Can I mix WebP with other formats?
- This page accepts WebP. To combine formats, convert each set separately and then use Merge PDF, which joins the results without re-encoding anything.
