About these tools
PowerPoint files are the format schools and offices actually pass around, and the one most free tools handle worst: almost every "pptx to pdf" site asks you to upload the file to a server first. Everything here runs in your own browser, which for a lesson plan with photographs of real children in it is not a small difference.
The section splits in two, and the split is worth understanding. Making a presentation here, or turning photographs into one, is exact: you arrange it and the file is what you arranged. Reading an existing .pptx is also exact, because text and pictures are stored in the file and simply need taking out.
Redrawing somebody else’s presentation as a PDF is the one job that is an approximation. A slide is a layout, and reproducing it needs the fonts it was written with. We substitute, so a line can wrap in a different place, and drawn shapes, charts and SmartArt do not come through at all. The tool says so before you press the button. For a deck of titles, bullets and pictures it comes out close; for one built out of shapes it does not, and you should check it before printing.
