Frequently asked questions
- What happens if the pictures are different sizes?
- In a row they are all brought to the same height, in a column to the same width. The common size is the smallest of them, because matching upwards would enlarge pictures past the detail they hold and make the whole thing look soft. Nothing is cropped.
- Why does the grid leave space around some pictures?
- Because every cell is the same and each picture is fitted inside it whole. A collage app would crop to fill the cell instead, which looks tidier but silently cuts the edges off — and the edge is often where the thing you were photographing is. Set the gap colour to match and the spacing reads as deliberate.
- How many pictures can I join?
- As many as your device can hold in memory at once. The result gets large quickly — eight phone photos side by side is a very wide image — so if you plan to send it anywhere, run it through Compress image afterwards.
- Can I put text or borders between them?
- Not here. Set a gap and a gap colour for a plain border; for anything more, join them first and add the text in whatever you would normally use. Keeping this tool to one job is what makes it predictable.
- Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?
- No. They are read and drawn together inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server.
- How do I choose which picture goes where?
- In a layout, tap one cell and then another and the two pictures trade places. The first cell of every arrangement is the feature — the big one, or the one in the middle — so the picture at the top of the list lands there by default. You can also drag the list above into order, which is the same thing by another route.
