- How do I post a 3 × 3 grid on Instagram?
- Upload the pieces in reverse reading order — bottom right first, top left last — because the newest post sits at the top left of a profile. The files are named row-column for exactly this reason: 3-3 goes up first, then 3-2, and so on to 1-1.
- What size is each piece?
- The picture's size divided by the grid, with any leftover pixels given to the last row and column rather than thrown away, so the pieces still add up to the original exactly. Start from a large picture: a 1080-pixel square cut into nine is 360 pixels a piece, which is on the soft side for a phone screen.
- Should I crop it square first?
- For a profile grid, yes — Instagram shows squares, and a rectangle cut into nine gives nine rectangles that will be cropped again on the way in. Crop image will square it up first, and then the grid comes out as intended.
- What do I get back?
- A single zip containing every piece as a separate file, in the same format as the picture you added. Unzip it and the files sort themselves into reading order by name.
