- What does the fast option actually do?
- Many MKV and WebM files already contain exactly the video an MP4 holds, just in a different wrapper. Repackaging swaps the wrapper and copies the video untouched, so it takes seconds and loses nothing. It only works when the contents already suit MP4.
- The fast result will not play. What now?
- Untick the fast option and convert again. That re-encodes properly, takes about as long as the video runs, and produces a file that plays everywhere.
- Will this fix a video that plays with no sound?
- Often, yes. Sound usually goes missing because the audio is in a codec the player does not know; a full conversion rewrites it as AAC, which everything supports.
- Does it work on an iPhone MOV?
- Yes. MOV files from an iPhone usually hold H.264 already, so the fast option normally handles them in a couple of seconds.
