- Why is this so much faster than the other video tools?
- Because nothing is re-encoded. Every other tool has to decode the picture, change it and encode it again. This one copies the picture across untouched and simply does not carry the audio over, which is a file operation rather than a conversion.
- Will the quality drop?
- Not at all. The video stream in the file you download is the same data as the one you put in. That is the advantage of copying rather than converting.
- Can I replace the sound instead of removing it?
- Not here. This drops the existing track; adding a different one is a separate job that needs the second file and a decision about which length wins.
- Does the file get smaller?
- Yes, by however much the audio was taking up. On a phone recording that is usually a few per cent. If you need it properly smaller, compress it afterwards.
