Screen recorder

Record your screen straight from the browser. Nothing to install, nothing uploaded.

Your browser will ask which window or screen to record. Nothing leaves your device.

This is the one tool here that needs no download at all. Browsers can record the screen themselves, so recording starts the moment you give permission and the file is finished the moment you stop — there is no conversion step and no thirty-megabyte engine to fetch first. Nothing is uploaded: the recording is assembled in the tab and saved straight to your device.

How to use it

  1. Press Start recording and choose a screen, a window or a tab.
  2. Do the thing you are recording. The timer shows how long you have been going.
  3. Press Stop, then download the file.

Why use this tool

Completely private

Everything runs inside your browser. Your files and text are never sent to a server.

Free, with no limits

No sign-up, no watermarks and no cap on how many times you can use it.

Instant results

There is no upload or queue to wait for, so results appear as fast as your device can work.

Works on any device

Runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet or desktop. Nothing to install.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a time limit or a watermark?
Neither. The recording runs until you stop it or your browser runs out of memory, and nothing is drawn on top of it. There is no account and nothing to pay.
Will it record the sound?
Sometimes, and that depends on the browser rather than on us. Chrome and Edge can capture the sound of a tab or of the whole system and will offer it in the sharing dialog. Firefox and Safari mostly cannot.
What format do I get?
WebM in most browsers and MP4 in Safari, because that is what each one can encode by itself. If you need MP4 from a WebM recording, the Convert to MP4 tool will do it.
Does this work on a phone?
No. Screen capture in a browser is a desktop feature and phone browsers do not offer it. Both iOS and Android have a screen recorder built into the system instead.
