- Does cutting reduce the quality?
- Not for an MP3: it is copied rather than re-encoded, so what you keep is bit for bit what it was. WAV, OGG, M4A and FLAC are saved as a 192 kbps MP3 — a fresh compression you will not hear on speech or most music, but not an identical copy.
- Why did my cut start slightly early?
- An MP3 is copied frame by frame, and a copy can only begin at a frame boundary — a few hundredths of a second, rarely noticeable. Other formats are re-encoded and cut exactly where you set.
- Can I make a ringtone with this?
- Yes. Cut the part you want and convert it to M4A for an iPhone, or keep the MP3 for Android.
- Can I cut out the middle?
- Not in one pass. Cut the piece before and the piece after, then join them.
