Voice message to MP3

Turn a Telegram or WhatsApp voice note into a normal MP3.

Voice messages are saved as OGG or Opus, which is excellent for sending and useless for anything else: most players, car stereos and editing programs will not open them. This turns one into an ordinary MP3 without leaving your device, which matters rather more than usual when the recording is somebody talking.

How to use it

  1. Save the voice message from Telegram or WhatsApp to your device.
  2. Add the .ogg, .opus or .oga file here.
  3. Press Convert to MP3 and download it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I save a voice message in the first place?
In Telegram, hold the message and choose Save to downloads, or forward it to Saved Messages and download it there. In WhatsApp, use the share button on the message and save it to files.
Will the recording sound worse?
Slightly, since it is re-encoded once. Voice messages are recorded at low bitrates already, and speech survives the step without anything you would notice.
Is the recording sent anywhere?
No. It is converted inside your browser and never uploaded. For a private conversation that is the whole point of doing it this way.
What about .opus files?
They work too, along with .oga and .ogg. All three are the same family and this handles them identically.
