Frequently asked questions
- Is daylight saving handled?
- Yes. Conversions use your browser's own time zone database, so each zone's offset is computed for the specific date you chose. Tools that store fixed offsets go wrong twice a year, and are wrong for a fortnight when regions change dates.
- Why does the offset change with the date?
- Because many zones shift by an hour seasonally. London is UTC+0 in winter and UTC+1 in summer, so the gap to a non-shifting zone such as Tashkent changes depending on the month.
- Does Uzbekistan use daylight saving?
- No. Tashkent stays on UTC+5 all year, which means the difference to Europe changes twice a year even though nothing changes locally — the usual source of confusion when scheduling with European colleagues.
- Why show the offset next to each zone?
- So you can sanity-check the result. If a converted time looks wrong, the offset usually explains it — most often because one of the zones has just entered or left daylight saving.
