Frequently asked questions
- Why not just open the CSV in Excel?
- Because Excel guesses, and on a Russian-locale machine it usually guesses wrong — one column of text, or Cyrillic turned into gibberish. This does the detection first and hands Excel a file with nothing left to guess.
- Are my long numbers safe?
- Values are written as text as they appeared in the CSV, so a long account number is not rewritten in scientific notation.
- Is it a real .xlsx?
- Yes, a genuine Excel workbook, not a CSV with the extension changed. It opens in Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets.
- Is my file uploaded?
- No. It is read and written in your browser.
