Frequently asked questions
- Is my book uploaded anywhere?
- No. The EPUB is opened and the PDF is built inside your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, which is also why a very long book takes a few seconds on a slow phone.
- Will it look exactly like my e-reader?
- The text, chapters, headings, quotes, verse, pictures and footnote marks are kept. The book's own fonts and colours are not: the PDF is set in Roboto, which covers Latin, Cyrillic and Uzbek, like a printed book with justified, indented paragraphs.
- Why does it refuse some books?
- A book bought from a store with copy protection (DRM) is encrypted, and only the reader it was bought for holds the key, so nothing can convert it. The page says so instead of producing a file of gibberish. A file that is not really an EPUB is refused the same way.
- What about comics and picture books?
- Those are fixed-layout EPUBs, where every page is a picture placed exactly. The page warns before converting one: the pictures come through, but as a flow rather than as the original pages.
- Which page size should I pick?
- A5 is the size of a paperback and reads comfortably on a phone. A4 is better for printing on ordinary paper.
